Art for Onan Hag Oll

Newsletter December 2024

Nadelik Lôwen dhe onan hag oll

A good time was had by all at our early Christmas gathering. As usual, the random plates of food brought by members provided a sumptuous feast, with (non-alcoholic) bubbly and mulled wine organised by the committee.

Gina and Martin successfully bamboozled us with an art quiz that required us to recognise clips of music that were about artists, had been an inspiration to artists or had been inspired by a picture. We laughed and learnt something new in equal measure! Do you know what music was inspired by this historic picture?

Members brought along a gallery of seasonal paintings, some autumnal, others decidedly wintery, with a few festive decorations thrown in. The prize of a voucher went to a snow scene by Alan Rutherford, our newest member.

Don’t forget to send Martin good photos of your pictures for our TAS website.

Already there are pretty lights indoors and outdoors, ready for Christmas. They are pretty, even seen through a wet bus window. I was invited to an art group party in Kea Community Centre. The hall was decorated with big baubles and tiny lights. "Bring food and a picture," said the invitation. "We will provide drinks." So, the food was eaten and the drinks were drunk. We voted for the best picture (a snow scene) and answered a quiz about pictures and painters.
